Abstract of Building effective virtual teams: How to overcome the problems of trust
This article explores some of the challenges faced when managing virtual teams, in particular the role played by trust and identity in virtual teams. It outlines why teams and virtual teams have become a valuable part of the modern organization and presents ten short case studies that illustrate the range of activities in which virtual teams can be found. Following this, the article examines some of the common problems encountered in virtual team working. It discusses two broad classes of solutions. The first are solutions that are essentially technical in nature (i.e., where changes to or improvements in technology would help to solve or ameliorate the problem); the second are more organizationally based (i.e., where the root of the problem is in people and how they are managed). The article concludes that both the technical and the organizational solutions need to be considered in parallel if an attempt to build an effective virtual team is to be successful.

This article is very much about the virtual team, to be more specific, the work pattern of the virtual team under globalization as well as the advanced technology. It aimed to explore the potential problems that a virtual team might face and suffer during the period of cooperation for knowledge management, and thus to help a virtual team achieve greater performance upon a clear understanding of and also an insight into these problems.
The reason that the article supports my arguments for my PA2 lies in its great attempt to look for solutions to the problems that the author identifies with case study. When people try to seek for better productivity, the premise is that they shall have a clear awareness of the hindering against such better results. Both the problems and the solutions included in the article could inspire me to think about the practical ways to facilitate the commitment of a virtual team through overcoming significant problems.
The most aspect of the article is the two kinds of solutions that the author offered to address problems. Upon the author made a detailed analysis of case study to perceive and identify the problems, two kinds of solutions were given – a technical one, and organizational one, to be more specific, trying to tackle problems with attentions given to both people issues and technology.
For findings and conclusions, I consider that the most critical aspect for greater productivity is about how to organize resources, in other words, how to achieve resource integration. Such resources refer to both human and non-human ones. In my point of view, the key for realizing effective information/knowledge management is anchored in cooperation and partnership of members in a virtual team, all of whom shall be linked in a network to collect, assess, evaluate and deliver information.
